Clinical Director — Michelle has been working in the mental health field for about 20 years. Michelle began her journey working with adults suffering from chronic and debilitating mental health issues while obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UMass Lowell. Michelle’s work in the mental health field continued as a case manager for dually diagnosed adults, seeking treatment primarily for substance abuse. In this setting, she strengthened her advocacy skills and gained experience running both female and co-ed groups. This is also where Michelle began her training in CBT, her favorite clinical approach to issues that frequently stem from erroneous beliefs and thought patterns. Michelle provided trauma-informed, culturally responsive care for years as a case manager before returning to school to get her master’s in clinical mental health counseling at UMass Boston. This is when Michelle began an internship at Children’s Services of Roxbury and realized she loved working with the adolescent population. She remained at Children’s Services of Roxbury for her post-master’s experience and gained incredible experience working collaboratively with families, providing the best possible care for children and teens with a wide range of mental health issues, including significant trauma. Michelle worked with families throughout the COVID pandemic, collaboratively finding solutions during a very difficult time for both children and their caregivers. Michelle is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Massachusetts and is excited to bring her vision to life, supervising a team that works tirelessly to provide the care that so many families are unable to find elsewhere during a time when they need it most.

Certified Emotional Support Animal — Bean is Crown Adolescent Health’s 3-year-old certified emotional support animal and one of the most loved members of our team. With her gentle personality and friendly nature, Bean loves welcoming clients, spending time with them, and helping create a comfortable, calming environment. Whether she’s greeting someone at the door, sitting beside a client who could use a little extra comfort, or simply hanging out around the office, Bean has a special way of making people feel at ease. She reminds us that sometimes support doesn’t need words—a wagging tail, a friendly face, and some quiet companionship can go a long way. When Bean isn’t busy supporting clients and staff at Crown, she enjoys swimming, taking long naps, getting plenty of attention, and spending time with her older sister, Sophie. Bean takes her role at Crown very seriously—although she’s always willing to accept a treat or two as part of the job.
Mental health concerns for adolescents are complex, and we recognize that each client has unique needs. Choosing outpatient treatment for your child allows them to receive treatment that is suitable for them at the moment, whether that be at home or in a hospital setting. We offer different levels of care, which may include:
Our most intensive level of care for clients is the day program. In a day program, a client will have access to a variety of therapies and services that can help them build healthy coping strategies and skills to learn how to manage their mental health concerns in a safe and supportive environment.
Our after school program is suitable for teens who are no longer hospitalized but still need access to more intensive treatments. Through daily sessions, our after school program helps to equip teens with the skills they need to navigate life, develop healthy coping techniques, and assess their progress.
Sometimes, hospital-based rehabilitation is necessary for teens requiring more intensive treatment. Our team is experienced in referring teens to a hospital setting, and we work to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s specific needs.
No matter what level of care your family chooses, you can trust our team at Crown Adolescent Health to provide compassionate and evidence-based treatments and therapies for adolescents.
Our team is dedicated to providing excellent care for every client who seeks our assistance with their mental health recovery. We recognize that the recovery process takes time and that anyone can be affected by these issues. Not to mention, it can be challenging for a teen to seek out the help they need. That’s why we do our best to make sure you and your child feel supported every step of the way.
